Steven G. Storch
Steven G. Storch is an Officer and President of the firm. Mr. Storch is a 1975 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and is admitted to practice in New York and Illinois. He is also admitted to the United States Supreme Court, United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the Eastern District of Virginia and Connecticut, as well as the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fourth and Eleventh Circuits.
Mr. Storch, who maintains a Martindale-Hubble AV rating, has been lead trial counsel in several significant matters over the past few years. Among other things, he has successfully litigated a plaintiff's case under the federal securities laws and the Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organizations Act (“RICO”); won a more than $20 million jury verdict against an accounting firm and factor in connection with a fraudulent billing scheme; won a $4.3 million jury verdict in an action involving the defendants' failure to pay royalties on a computerized options trading program; represented a foreign bank on multimillion dollar claims against a major investment banker relating to the sale of mortgage backed securities; been appointed lead class counsel on behalf of over 100 law firms throughout the United States in connection with a dispute over a 600 million dollar tobacco fee distribution and successfully defended a number of business entities against Lanham Act claims.
He also has extensive experience in prosecution and defense of professional malpractice actions, employment and intellectual property litigation, including acting as lead counsel for a sports magazine in a much publicized action commenced by the NBA basketball player, Charles Barkley. He has acted as a Court-appointed referee and mediator in a number of complex commercial cases pending in the New York Courts. Most recently, he has successfully litigated a widely publicized and industry monitored insurance coverage claim affecting the rights of thousands of insureds in the New York metropolitan area, successfully represented a regional wireless carrier in a multimillion dollar contract dispute against a national carrier. He is currently lead defense counsel for a national law firm in a much publicized racketeering lawsuit pending in federal court in New York and for a public company asserting fraudulent conveyance claims in California state court against its former investment banker.
Mr. Storch was selected for inclusion in the 2007 and 2008 editions of the New York Super Lawyers listings. The selection process for the listing includes peer nomination, a blue ribbon panel review and independent research of the candidates. Only five percent of the attorneys in the New York metro area have been named to this list.
Mr. Storch is a member of the Bar Association of the Supreme Court of the United States. He is also a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, sitting on the Trial Lawyers Committee of the Association. He was formerly associated with the firms of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Reavis & McGrath, where his primary practice area was business.
