Storch Amini & Munves handles a great number of high profile matters.  The Firm has represented a number of large, nationally and internationally recognized companies, including one of the nation’s largest textile manufacturers, the world’s leading commercial satellite imagery firm, an internet based seller of long distance and bandwidth, one of the world’s largest independent power producers, a regional cellular carrier, several real estate developers, and cutting edge, closely held corporations. Storch Amini & Munves has also acted as counsel to New York City and other municipalities to secure recoveries against the major tobacco companies for damages incurred relating to smoking-related disease.  In that matter, our clients recovered over $6 billion.

Our many successful representations have included:

  • Representation of a real estate investor in a California action relating to a series of real estate limited partnerships owning property throughout the United States. This matter involved extensive discovery and forensic analysis of a complex series of real estate transactions, financings, and reorganizations. We resolved the case before trial and negotiated a highly lucrative settlement for our client;
  • Representation of the inventor of a revolutionary computer software program which implemented a unique methodology and mathematical formulation for trading options. We obtained a multi-million dollar jury verdict for the inventor, who was seeking royalties from a brokerage house that had used the program for years, claimed to have switched to a new program and ceased paying royalties to him;
  • Representation of a major international bank in connection with its investment in hotel properties throughout the United States.  Following the commencement of litigation in New York federal court, we favorably resolved this matter for our client;
  • Representation of a regional cellular carrier in an action we brought against a major wireless company for breach of contract which severely reduced the price our client was able to obtain in connection with a contemplated sale of its bandwidth rights. Following extensive litigation in federal court, we successfully resolved the matter for our client at a private mediation;
  • Representation of public shareholders in a two actions, one a class action and the other derivative,  against a public company which had the exclusive rights to salvage from the wreck of the RMST Titanic.  After extensive discovery, the firm negotiated a unique settlement which imposed a strict corporate governance plan on the corporation and which was comparable to the types of plans sought, and in some instances obtained, by states attorney generals in the United States;
  • Representation of a private telecommunications company in a claim against its joint venture partner for misappropriation of revenue and property. Following a jury trial, our client received full compensation for its damages and was awarded punitive damages as well.
  • Representation of a small manufacturer of guitar strings which was sued for alleged trademark and Lanham Act violations.  Following a trial in federal court, the matter was resolved with no award of damages against our client;
  • Representation of a publicly traded company against, among others, Arthur Andersen, for fraud, negligence and professional malpractice in connection with our client’s acquisition of a small garment manufacturer; 
  • Representation of a foreign apparel manufacturer against its factors, accountants, and certain retailers in the United States in connection with a fraudulent scheme which rendered the client insolvent. We obtained a multi-million dollar jury verdict for our client in federal court in New York.
  • Representation of an equipment leasing company in connection with the Bennett Funding scandal;
  • Representation of a sports magazine in connection with a lawsuit by a prominent professional athlete who alleged that the magazine had improperly used his name and likeness in connection with a certain advertising campaign;
  • Representation of a satellite communications company in defense of an action brought against it which sought to enjoin our clients’ launch of a space satellite containing state of the art imaging. Following motion practice and discovery, the company was allowed to go forward with its launch;
  • Representation of the City of New York and Erie County in litigation against various Tobacco manufacturers seeking reimbursement for the enormous medical and other costs resulting from the sale of tobacco. Ultimately, our clients received over $6 billion in reimbursement;
  • Representation of trustees in numerous bankruptcies, including Kleinert’s, Inc., Ames Department Stores, and e.spire Communications, Inc., in major litigation against creditors and  professional advisors for fraud, fraudulent conveyances and preferential transfers;
  • Representation of an individual diagnosed with breast cancer that was denied treatment for his disease on the grounds that the treatment was experimental. Following a bench trial and appeal to the United States Court of Appeals, the insurer was ordered to cover the treatment.

  • Representation of a national law firm in a widely publicized action by a major manufacturing company alleging wrongful commencement of toxic tort litigation;
  • Representation of a law firm in connection with the breakup of a joint venture in New York state to prosecute lead paint poisoning cases;
  • Representation of a public entity against the government of Moldova for breach of a licensing agreement in an arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce to be held in Geneva;
  • Representation of a closely held business owner in a malpractice claim against his former law firm for failure to properly protect his interests relating to a completed arbitration;
  • Representation of a major New York real estate development company in a series of disputes relating to a number of prominent New York hotels;
  • Representation of a real estate developer in connection with the dissolution of real estate partnerships involving dozens of commercial properties in the New York metropolitan area;
  • Representation of the president of an American subsidiary of a foreign bank on claims of breach of contract;
  • Representation of a major mortgage broker in defense of a claim against a purported former employee for commissions;
  • Representation of a small mortgage broker against claims of unfair competition and breach of contract;
  • Representation of an investment banker seeking $30 million for alleged breaches of contract and fraud against a major European bank; and
  • Representation of a public company in an action we brought under the RICO Act to recoup millions of dollars in losses resulting from an alleged major international criminal conspiracy that spanned five continents.
